Fall Bounty

Katherin and I received two tiny tomato plants from Katie and Joe at the beginning of the summer. We planted them, watered them, moved them to the best spot for sun, and waited all summer for our amazing bounty.

Well, it looks like we both have a brown thumb when it comes to tomatoes. These we the only two on the vine that looked at all appealing. With a frost advisory tonight, this is all we get.

Full Term! (Baby 37 weeks)

Saturday marked 37 weeks, which officially means the baby can now come whenever it's ready. Tricky part is that may mean tomorrow or a month from now. I've been feeling pretty well, with only a few back aches to slow me down. My co-workers threw a fabulous shower for us on Friday, which is where the above photo is from. I am sporting a "Preggo Princess" crown. Among many kind and generous gifts, they also got us a beautiful crib. What a special gift that will always remind me of the good friends I've made working at HospiceCare.

Ingrid's Here!

I am happy to report that I am an Auntie again! Willy, Eron, and Leif welcomed Ingrid Lilly to their family on Tuesday 9/15. She was 8 lbs 6 oz, 21 inches long. A 4 hour start to finish labor!

It sounds like Leif is making a stellar adjustment to big brotherhood.

If you're like me, I instantly wondered what Leif looked like when he was 1 day old. Check out this old photo from our blog to compare.

Ingrid definitely has lots of dark brown hair... Sorta looks like her Papa, doesn't she? :)

Trey Michael Hecker

Welcome baby Trey to Kate and Aaron. Can't wait to meet you!

Treasure Hunter

The other day I was wasting a little time on the inkernet--specifically Facebook, the ultimate time sucker. I happened to notice that my sister-in-law was tagged in a photo album. So, being I'm nosy, and like photos, I decided to take a look. The photo was taken by a friend of Willy and Eron's and it was pretty cool, so I kept looking through his other photos. I was totally amazed. They were just some really great photos. And, to top it off, I stumbled upon this photo of Leif which I am totally in love with. Everything about this photo is quintessentailly "Leif." I emailed their friend that took the photo and he linked me to his Flickr page with even more great photos. I was so excited I even called Willy. I asked if their friend was a professional photographer. Willy said, "No, he just likes to take pictures.... he's a geologist!"

Baby 35 Weeks

Saturday marked 35 weeks and if the count down hadn't already begun, it's surely obvious now. I'm quite sure the baby is getting bigger by the unfortunate appearance of stretch marks in the last few weeks. One of my dear co-workers told me that my delicate Norwegian skin was doomed and she was right. Not that I was ever a bikini model or anything ;). Additionally, sleep has been a challenge and I'm often reminded this is all in preparation for the mini-alarm clock that is soon to make his or her presence known. We have one more birth preparation meeting with our doula, then we're ready for the show to go live. As ready as you can be for something like this, I suppose.
On Sunday we had a fun day with Katie and Joe and were fortunate to have Katie share her photography talent with us for a little photo shoot. She did an excellent job. Here is a link to just a handful of my many favorites.

Go Big Red

Katherin and I made the trip to Camp Randall yesterday along with Joel and Justin to watch the Badgers stomp NIU. Kickoff was at 6pm, and it turned out to be a perfect night for football. It wasn't the most exciting game I have ever been to, but it was nice to take in a game and enjoy the start of fall.

Its been almost three years since the last time Katherin and I went to a game together, and it was right before another major event. I wonder what will be on the horizon the next time we make it to a game...

He are some very handsome fellows waiting for a cab ride home. Looks like there was quite a party on the porch earlier in the day. A guy on a bike with a flat tire came up to us and asked any of us had a pump. We said "no, we don't live here, maybe one of the guys on the porch will have one." So he walked up there and asked, to which he got the response "sorry, we don't live here either." Wait, does anyone live here?
