Back from Vacation: Portland/Leavenworth

Carl and I made it back from vacation this weekend. We both feel this is the best vacation that we've shared.

PORTLAND
Portland was amazing! We loved the feel and flow of the city. It has a similar feel to Madison, but with much less humidity! Things we really enjoyed doing were:
-The Saucebox: Hip bar that served late night snacks including taro chips.
-MAX light rail and street car system: So convenient to get around the city!
-Japanese Gardens: Set inside Washington State park. It is a beautiful and relaxing stroll.
-Rose Test Garden: Too many roses! So beautiful to see them all in full bloom.
-Powell's city of books: A city block makes up this massive bookstore that you could get lost in for days.
-Autumn Cellars: Winery tour, very delicious wines
-Multnomah Falls: Tallest waterfall in Oregon, so cool!

LEAVENWORTH
We then met my parents in Leavenworth at Willy, Eron, and Leif's house. It was fun to get the whole gang together. Highlights include:
-Staying at a beautiful log cabin down the road from Willy and Eron.
-Watching Leif play with tractors and pushing him in the swing.
-Willy's cooking: fresh produce from the garden made every dish even more delicious.
-Helping at the farm: We got to do some fun projects to help keep the farm flowing smoothly. Carl harvested peas and strawberries. I weeded garlic and wound hoses.
-Day trip to Lake Chelan: hanging out in the park and burgers down town.
-Hike to Rock Slide: Not far from Willy and Eron's house a pretty massive rock slide took out a few roads and continues to leave some homes stranded on the other side.

Weekend Warriors

The day we moved in we knew that the basement window sill was rotting. 5 years later, it continued to rot and hang around on the "to do list." Well, not any longer! My parents came down and they managed to knock out this project over the weekend, plus more! Very fun! Thanks Mom and Dad.

Thanks Tia Katie and Onkel Joe

This amazing cat tree was an instant hit at the Rozas household. The "boys" have never been happier! Paco only came down when it started to thunder. Thanks Tia and Onkel!
